Summer of Sonic and Sonic Boom 2012 Announced

It’s official the Sonic community is getting another two conventions this year, the first now in it’s fifth year… has it really been going that long? The Summer of Sonic which will take place on July the 7th somewhere in London.

Then over in the US there will be the second Sonic Boom event will be held at the San Diego Comic con on Friday the 13th. Check out the SEGA blog announcement here.

EDIT: Site has just been pulled offline, seems like people were getting ahead of themselves… whoops.

Okay I just saw the new place on the net to get your Sonic merch… at least if your a UK fan that is. sonicmerchandise.com/ has launched to little or no fanfare or promotion at least from what I can see and I can understand why.

Looking around the site it seems okay enough except it seems to be lacking in content they have sections for Figures and plushies which have nothing in which seems to me to be just teasing.

I will admit the few items they have on there they have some things I’ve not seen in the UK until now, and then they have things they are charging £9.98 for which have been given away at special events. Just a little cheeky don’t you think?

Now if you want to actually buy something be prepared to be stung as they seem to have got a bit confused on there adding system when it comes to VAT, come on it’s just a bit of simple math.

Oh but it gets better with each buy you get rings which can be redeemed for more merch… one assumes as it’s never explained no help page or anything.

And to round it all off the customer service page is in Latin… and even then translating it does not give you the customer service.

So overall it’s a bit of a shoddy launch… I can only hope that the site launch was an accident at this stage as it seems incomplete.

Sonic Generations: Modern Trailer

Another trailer has surfaced from SEGA’s new best Chums IGN, featuring three stages from Sonic’s recent history, including Rooftop Run (amazing) Planet Wisp (another good choice) and Crisis City. Wait Crisis city from Sonic 06… oh god no… the memories are coming back… somebody get me some valium!

Sonic Generations: Dreamcast Era Trailer

Today we get to see a trailer for the era that brought me back to Sonic and quiet frankly is still the best console ever the Dreamcast! Oh and Sonic Heros is also thrown in there, cause that was around the same time, and I’m sure was originally intended for the dreamcast.

Oh god, the nostalgia I’m drowning in it!

Sonic Generations: 3 Eras Melody TGS

As some of you may know the Tokyo Game Show has just finished up, and SEGA being SEGA had a live performance from Jun Senoue. Now Jun has just posted up this amazing music video showing off three melody’s from the Sonic Generations, including Chemical Plant, Seaside Hill and Rooftop Run.

Plus in the background we get a better look at some of the levels from Generations. Now if you’ll excuse me I need to drool at this a couple more times.

Sonic Generations to Support Steering Wheel Peripherals?

So out and about on my travels after Summer of Sonic I came across something interesting at at the gaming centre in the Trocadero. It seems that the Sonic Generations demo has been setup… with a steering wheel and pedal set…

Maybe it’s an early test by SEGA of alternate forms of control for Sonic… the steering wheel actually makes a bit of sense if you consider that they are designed to control fast moving object and Sonic does fall into the category. Maybe the pedals are the jump controls?

Or it could be that the controls are not connected and someone was just being industrious and making use of an un-used screen but that’s far less entertaining!
