‘Sigh,’ even more Archie Archives

Okay, I admit it I’m getting sick and tired of posting about another Archie archives update, so here’s the deal, rather than get one page every week or so, I’ll give you two! That’s twenty issues worth of information, so we can all get through this process twice as fast!

So here you go! Issues 061 – 070 and issues 071 – 080 are up for your information.

Oh and keep an eye on Emerald Coast, I’ve lined up a nice surprise for latter this week…

Sunday Afternoon Sonic – Sea3on Sonic SATAM

Ever since the rather abrupt end of SATAM on TV at the end of season two fans have speculated as to what would have happened if a third season had been made. Many fan stories have been written, most of them terrible, films and animations have been proposed and shot down but not before the community has been whipped up into a storm. In all I’ve been left with a strong belief that we had a good run with SATAM and now that it’s over ten years old any attempt to revive the show will seem hollow and meaningless, a poor imitation of the original.

So what do I have for you today? Well it’s a comic that picks up where the end of season two left off, with the freedom fighters celebrating and Snively with his new friend scheming his downfall. The question is, is it any good? Does it continue the story and provoke the same feeling of joy as watching the cartoons does? In a word no, I’ve read a number of comics in my time so I like to think of myself as a fairly good judge of these things, and what this ends up being is a poor imitation of the show. Yes the character artwork is quiet nice carrying through the style from the show but the background seems hurried or just lazy in places, and the writing leaves a lot to be desired. The plot follows a very linear path that I found very predictable, and in the end boring. I ended up feeling that the writer wanted to as true to the series as possible and in so doing ended up making it rather flat. Saying that the comic is still in it’s early days and interesting things may be lurking ahead.

While I didn’t enjoy it, I do however feel it has some potential given time, but why don’t you go have a look, at the very least it will kill half an hour of your Sunday afternoon.

Damn you HMV! ASR figure on UK highstreet

I just got back from a trip to HMV since I heard a rumour this morning that HMV had a stock of ASR figures. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the rumour was true! However there is a catch, in a fiendish marketing ploy you have to buy the game in order to be eligible for the figure… and I was hoping to avoid getting the wii edition of ASR… oh well.

The store I went to only had a couple left so if you want one I suggest you hurry. Now if you excuse me I have to find a way into my new ASR game by removing the ridiculously numerous security stickers without ripping the packaging.

Sunday Afternoon Sonic – An Itch Sonic Can’t Scratch

Okay, it didn’t take as long as I thought to 1000 point Sonic and SEGA Allstars racing, so I’m back to work on Emerald Coast and where better to start than with a bit of Sunday afternoon entertainment!

Today I’ve found a nice little animation by Thweatted (Deviant art account), featuring Sonic and Knuckles and the lyrics ‘Itch U Can’t Scratch’ by Junior Senior, now whilst I’m not the biggest fan of the music the animation is brilliant and well worth a watch.

I haven’t done a Sonic Short in ages! So I’ll do one now when people least expect it.

Currently working my way through Allstars Racing, to sum up, go buy it now! It’s awesome, easily the best Sonic racing game ever, and it beats the pants off the latest mario kart game, in all departments!

What I’m a day late? This will never do… OK who actually reads these little posts anyway? Issues 81 – 90 have been added to the Sonic Archie comic Archive, hmm not too much further to go before I start to run out of comics guess I really should start to look at other things to do for my Monday/Tuesday updates.

With Sonic and SEGA Allstars Racing out Friday, or tomorrow if you live in the land of the free and fat, I thought it was about time Emerald Coast had a quick facelift to celebrate the new game (can you tell that I’m excited about it?), that’s all for now but I’m sure their will be more ASR related news coming soon.
