Sport Relief and by extension Sonic Relief, the Sonic communities fund-raising drive is coming to a an end next Friday.
So far the Sonic Relief fund has raised almost £200 for Sport Relief, with a Sonic remix album (well worth a few pounds donation), to a sport themed art contest where you could win a great prize, for a small donation to a good cause!
Speaking of which I wanted to showcase a few of the entries here today just to get the word out and see if we can’t raise a bit more in the next week! Hit the jump button, to see some of the entries so far. (continue reading…)
Ever since the rather abrupt end of SATAM on TV at the end of season two fans have speculated as to what would have happened if a third season had been made. Many fan stories have been written, most of them terrible, films and animations have been proposed and shot down but not before the community has been whipped up into a storm. In all I’ve been left with a strong belief that we had a good run with SATAM and now that it’s over ten years old any attempt to revive the show will seem hollow and meaningless, a poor imitation of the original.
So what do I have for you today? Well it’s a comic that picks up where the end of season two left off, with the freedom fighters celebrating and Snively with his new friend scheming his downfall. The question is, is it any good? Does it continue the story and provoke the same feeling of joy as watching the cartoons does? In a word no, I’ve read a number of comics in my time so I like to think of myself as a fairly good judge of these things, and what this ends up being is a poor imitation of the show. Yes the character artwork is quiet nice carrying through the style from the show but the background seems hurried or just lazy in places, and the writing leaves a lot to be desired. The plot follows a very linear path that I found very predictable, and in the end boring. I ended up feeling that the writer wanted to as true to the series as possible and in so doing ended up making it rather flat. Saying that the comic is still in it’s early days and interesting things may be lurking ahead.
While I didn’t enjoy it, I do however feel it has some potential given time, but why don’t you go have a look, at the very least it will kill half an hour of your Sunday afternoon.
Okay, it didn’t take as long as I thought to 1000 point Sonic and SEGA Allstars racing, so I’m back to work on Emerald Coast and where better to start than with a bit of Sunday afternoon entertainment!
Today I’ve found a nice little animation by Thweatted (Deviant art account), featuring Sonic and Knuckles and the lyrics ‘Itch U Can’t Scratch’ by Junior Senior, now whilst I’m not the biggest fan of the music the animation is brilliant and well worth a watch.
Check out some of Thweatted’s other animations over at his youtube account.
As those of you who listened to last Sunday’s show will have noticed I didn’t actually do the show I had planned, so I could recycle that material and re-use it this week… I could but I won’t instead the theme of this weeks show is ‘how far is too far’ where I’ll discuss where it might be a good idea to draw a line in the world of Sonic fandom.
Once again everyone’s comments are welcome in the irc, or if not there you can email me at vger.ec[@]googlemail.com with your thoughts, show starts at 11am only on SSR!
After my trip to SOS last year I’ve been resting up a bit, but I’ve finally decided to come back out of hiding for a little trip SEGA invited me along to something about a new roller-coaster and a themed room, once again I was accompanied by my handler/photographer Vger, I really need to hire someone else, his inside jacket pocket is way too small for me.
As you should all know by now Bently Jones is holding a competition to get yourself into his music video for So Much More, but one man has gone way beyond just a few seconds of clip, he’s done the whole thing!
Okay this guy is going to be a tough act to follow, but I’m sure someone could beat this, any takers?
Those lords of humour (and computer games) over at the Escapist have been at it again, this time putting an err… interesting spin on the recent history of Sonic.
With all the recent Sonic 4 excitement, one very important thing seems to have been completely forgotten the fact that Cream, the best Sonic character ever made, is not in it. It’s such a travesty that even Hitler is furious!
So while you can just do ya thing and enter a piece of artwork with £1 to get some prizes there is also other ways you can get some stuff. (continue reading…)
