So out and about on my travels after Summer of Sonic I came across something interesting at at the gaming centre in the Trocadero. It seems that the Sonic Generations demo has been setup… with a steering wheel and pedal set…

Maybe it’s an early test by SEGA of alternate forms of control for Sonic… the steering wheel actually makes a bit of sense if you consider that they are designed to control fast moving object and Sonic does fall into the category. Maybe the pedals are the jump controls?

Or it could be that the controls are not connected and someone was just being industrious and making use of an un-used screen but that’s far less entertaining!

Well once again it’s that time of year when Sonic fans descend on London and have a big group hug. I’m heading off to London shortly so don’t expect any updates this weekend, saying that I don’t update that often anyway, but never fear people not able to go can follow the goings on via twitter or watch it live on ustream.

Right time for last minute packing, have a good weekend everyone and to anyone coming to Summer of Sonic, watch out for the crazed lunatic in a Hawaiian shirt.

It seems that last pony comic inspired Umiyuri to do some fan art, and it looks pretty awesome.

And now to play out this random update, have some Pinkie Pie playing a unbeatable tune on the trumpet.

Okay, I promise this is the last of the pony!

Many of you will have already seen the post over on Sonic Wrecks and on Facebook that T-Bird wrote asking for voluntary donations towards the running of SoS. Us here at EC would like to help this cause a little more and I don’t believe in letting generosity go unrewarded, so I’m offering my artistic talents towards the fundraising!

I’m opening up an initial five commission slots at £10 each for fully coloured and shaded SA-style art, and a further five at £5 each for A4 sketches. You choose the character, I will draw it for you… And if you’re coming to SoS, you can even have a print/the original sketch of the work waiting for you if you want! 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the SoS fund, and if you’re lucky (and I get my new computer fully installed with fun things), you could even see your commission being drawn LIVE on my Livestream account!

So! If you’re interested in helping SoS out and want some art as our way of saying thankyou, please contact me directly or reply to this post stating what you would like! Please note that multiple characters will count as separate slots so be certain to get your commission requests in quick as I’m sure these spaces will not hang around long!

Footnote: For those of you that were kind enough to donate towards Sonic Relief a while ago… Don’t worry! Urth is starting your drawings as we speak, and you will see them soon!

EDIT: Five slots gone already! Thankyou guys – Keep ’em coming!

UPDATE: Registration is now closed

Taken from Summer of Sonic Website:

Today we are launching our free ‘reservation’ service for those that are travelling from far away and wish to secure a place at The Summer of Sonic convention.

Entry is free, but we want to ensure that everyone who intends to make plans to stay in London can do so without fear of losing a place inside the venue and missing out on the day’s activities. As such, please note that this is a goodwill service only and is not a means of obtaining proof of entry into the Summer of Sonic event.

You can apply for a reservation at this website. Fill in the form, and we will check it over and email you a card which will need to be exchanged at the door for entry. The reservation card alone is not guaranteed proof of entry – it only saves you a place inside the venue, and for four hours after the event’s opening time (between 9am – 1pm).

The Summer of Sonic staff reserve the right to deny you entry if necessary, and you must still read and understand the Terms and

Conditions of Entry on acceptance of entry on the day. The Terms and Conditions of Entry will be made available on the Summer of Sonic website ahead of the June 25th event date.

If you’re unable to get a reservation in time, don’t worry – we have taken extra measures to accommodate additional visitors in a pinch, so you may be able to get in on the day. Because we are expecting an overwhelming turnout, however, we highly recommend you apply for a reservation as soon as possible. If you need to add group or family members, you will need to apply each person separately.

We hope you are able to use this service to get peace of mind and secure your travel arrangements for the weekend! Let’s celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 20th Anniversary together! See you on June 25th!

So yeah, if your planing on attending this year I’d recommend getting a reservation.

Sometimes I have to teach Vger a little lesson in piracy, and I also need to flex my muscles and sail the heartless out to invade places in… Vger’s honour?

Regardless due to circumstances involving an attempted infiltration of EC headquarters by RadioSEGA’s head Gavvie, there will be a special show of Saturday Night SEGA on RadioSEGA tonight at 10pm, so tune in or watch us and find out what various mayhem and havok we can cause as we hijack RadioSEGA

Just a quick note, the Summer of Sonic site has just announced the intended venue for this year as the Camden Centre, rather well placed in the centre of London, just over the road from Kings Cross station, head over the the Summer of Sonic site for more information.

It’s just under three months until the biggest Sonic community event of the year gets under way, and well we haven’t heard much recently, there have been hints of possible venue hunting from organiser Dreadknux on twitter or at least something relating to pigeons panicking, however considering the 2011 site is now up and running, we should expect venue information soon.

Expect more details on Summer of Sonic 2011 to surface very soon.
