After the overwhelmingly positive response last week for pre-orders of the none existent Emerald Coasts plush collection I got a brilliant photo from Ram the Dragon of Sonic Wrecks the long time enemy friend of Emerald Coast. Are we ready to say awwww?
Who knows if we promote enough interest we might be able to rope some pathetic fool into actually making these, any volunteers?

It’s been a very busy day in the world of Sonic so rather than spamming up my twitter account with post after post I thought I’d amalgamate all that’s been going on into one big post.
First off, Sonic Free Riders has got some box art, and a price, $49.99, a little cheaper than a normal 360 game. Still no release date for it though, making me think it’s not going to be avaliable at launch.
Next we have the announcement that Sonic Adventure will be hitting Xbox live on the 15th of September, that’s two weeks from today folks, I have to say I’m really looking forward to this despite the Big levels, it’s certainly going to be holding site updates the back end of this month.
To finish off we have a bit of sad news, Ben Hurst a writer on the SatAM and Sonic Underground cartoon series passed away a few weeks ago due to complications with diabetes. After writing for Sonic Underground he also helped out the community, appearing at the Sonic Amateur Games Expo in 2005 and 2006. A statement from a good friend of Ben can be found here.

Sonic has been through a lot in the last few years, from beating Eggman, to having more support characters than you can shake a very big stick at, but through it all we have maintained our love for the blue blur, this video seems to sum up the events of the last nineteen years rather nicely.
Extralives.org, is holding a Sonic the Hedgehog game marathon this Friday, to help raise money for a charity called Water, but don’t take my word for it, Tim Troppoli the founder of Extralife explains it better in his own words.
Starting this Friday, August 20th at noon (Eastern Time), we’ll be conducting a Sonic the Hedgehog Marathon. In the spirit of Sonic, the broadcast will be formatted as a race with 2 screens side by side with each player trying to complete the game before the other. We’ll be playing all of the Sonic games from the main series ranging from the original Sonic the Hedgehog to the Adventure series to the hedgehog’s most recent outings on the current generation of consoles.
This marathon will be raising money for a nonprofit called charity: water, a charity that provides clean water to people in developing nations. They’re promised to keep track of the money we’ll raise and put it toward a specific project—our goal is to raise $5,000 to construct a well in a developing nation.
Every $5 donation enters the donor once in our raffle where we’re raffling off some ExtraLives.org t-shirts and Sonic the Hedgehog hats. We’ve also got a couple of prizes set aside for anyone who takes the time to make us some artwork– no donations necessary!
Sounds like a good watch, and it’s for a good cause so don’t forget to chip in.
Okay, I’ve put together some thoughts from this years Summer of Sonic hopefully I’ve covered all the important stuff.
Preparation
This year it was a minor miracle we managed to pull it off as everything seemed to be working against us on Friday, starting with the venue not being cleaned out, discovering holes in the floor, to suddenly having our people capacity number dropped less than 18 hours before the doors open, and I’m only scratching the surface here. We then had, a faulty Wii, a DS that couldn’t take a dev cart, a stolen laptop and camera, and the less said about the Pavilion staff the better. It is a true testament to the commitment of staff that we managed to overcome these problems.
Hot on the heels of the last caption competition comes another one… This time, T-Bird looks a little worse for wear.
Oh dear.
