It has been a while since we had a good youtube video, namely because all the Sonic themed ones have already been taken. So instead let’s go with the pirate theme and bring you a good old pirate song to help ye guys get into the mood for taking over Emearld Coast once and for all. This one comes from Lucasart’s Monkey Island Series.

Video here.

Must admit to getting quite excited about this game. It seems to play exactly like Unleashed, just minus the Werehog. While Unleashed wasn’t a terrible game and the daytime stages were indeed excellent, the balance and contrast of Werehog to Sonic levels was a little jarring for most. Let’s hope that what we are seeing is reflective of the majority of the game and that there’s not another Werehog-esque gimmick lurking underneath the shiny exterior, yet to be seen by mortal eyes…

While Nemain and Vger trump me in the Merch hunting department (despite me being of pirate origin), I have a few odd gems in my collection, 15th Aniversery Statue, a rather elusive (and well worn) Chronicles T-shirt & Sonic Rush Converse (which are in perfect condition because I can’t stand Converse).

But sometimes that odd piece of merch just turns up on your doorstep, this one was actually a christmas present from my sisters.

Spot the mistake?

I’m so not procrastinating on the next DtN comic.

While searching through my merch boxes today, I happened upon the jewel of my plush collection looking very sad in its plastic bag. Up until now, I’d not even removed it from its bag nor taken any proper photos of it. Seemed a shame for something as special as this particular plush, so I’ve finally got around to releasing it from its plastic prison and gave it a luxury photoshoot while I was at it. What a lucky plushie. You guys are in for a real treat this article.

Exams have a habit of getting in the way… Expect a DtN update next week, hopefully with something  a bit more awesome to make up for the lack of update this week!

Once again the Nemain has been merch hunting and has hooked something most excellent to share with you guys…

There are a fair few games out there which are brilliant, just never got the attention they deserved, either because they were on a console no one liked, too late in the consoles life cycle or in this case far too far ahead of its time.

So what is this game? Well while Mario and Sonic duked it out on the consoles this little gem was made as a rival for the other gaming format, the PC. Of course since most of the popular PC games had shooting in them (Doom) we couldn’t very well negelct that audience. Guess what? It worked brilliantly.

Sonic and SEGA Allstars Racing is the game a lot of Sonic fans have been waiting a long time for, over the years we’ve had Sonic Drift, Sonic Drift 2, Sonic R, Sonic Riders and Sonic Riders Zero Gravity. All of which have varied in quality from tolerable to terrible. Never has there been a game that did for Sonic what Mario Kart did for Mario, that is until now.

At times the Sonic community can have a really good sense of humour, and on April fools day this is especially true, so for those of you who missed the fun here’s a quick round up of the best pranks.

First off I’m happy to announce that Urtheart’s post yesterday about a ‘Classic’ mode in Sonic 4 is not true, although his sentiments are still true. I’m rather happy with how that one turned out actually, we caught a few people with it and pissed off a few others, mission complete!

I’ve been meaning to get around to doing one of these for a while now but recently I haven’t been able to find much to talk about, that is until I got an email. Yes I do occasionally get emails, and no it’s not hate mail. The email spoke of a new podcast called SEGA Addicts celebrating all things SEGA, I was intrigued so I went along to have a listen.

Featuing Jim Sterling, Topher Cantler, Tom Kyzivat, and Kris Knigge, the podcasts are just fun chats about various SEGA games or aspects of SEGA between a bunch of friends who want to share their love for the greatest games company on earth. It’s a nice listen and at times I found myself laughing with them, there’s a peculiar fascination with food that runs through the shows but it just adds to the relaxed atmosphere.

Well worth a listen even if it’s just to help kill a Sunday afternoon.
